- Is hard for people outside the family to understand
- Swaps one sound for another, like “wabbit” for rabbit
- Leaves sounds off the beginning or end of words
- Has a lisp or a “slushy” s sound

Why groups?
Kids thrive alongside peers
One-on-one therapy has its place. But for speech sounds, practicing with a few other kids adds something a quiet therapy room can’t.

What ages are Sound Groups for?
Children ages 3 and up. I match groups by age and by the sounds kids are working on, so every child practices alongside peers at a similar stage.
Does my child need a diagnosis or referral?
No diagnosis or referral is needed. If your child is hard to understand or working on certain sounds, you’re welcome to join.
What happens in a session?
Each 30-minute session is play-based and built around the sounds your child’s group is practicing. Kids get lots of practice turns through games, stories, and movement, so it feels like fun, not work.
Who leads the groups?
I do. I’m Molly Kolarik, an experienced pediatric speech-language pathologist (M.S., CCC-SLP) who specializes in speech sounds. Sound Groups are a new way I’m offering that expertise to Kansas City families.
What if my child needs more than a group?
Some children do best with one-on-one support, so I also offer individual sessions ($60 for 30 minutes). If I think that’s the better fit for your child, I’ll tell you honestly and help you find the right next step.
Do you take insurance?
Kolarik Speech Therapy is private pay. At $35 a session, Sound Groups are designed to be affordable without insurance billing.
When do Sound Groups start?
I’m planning to open the first groups in 2027. Families on the priority list hear first and pick their group times before enrollment opens to everyone.
Where will groups meet?
In Kansas City. I’ll share the location with the priority list first. The ZIP codes families share when they join help me choose a spot that’s convenient for as many of them as possible.

I’m an experienced pediatric speech-language pathologist with a Master’s degree from the University of Central Missouri. I specialize in helping children master speech sounds, and Sound Groups are a new way I’m bringing that work to more Kansas City families.
